Sunday, July 9th. El Paradon Surf Camp

Well, after 5 or so hours, we finally made it to the coast.  Now, I know why I never surfed Guate when I traveled down here in my VW in 1993...it's hard to get to.  We reached the town of Sipacate and then had to travel by Panga through the mangroves to El Paradon Surf Camp.  We totally felt like pro surfers  arriving at our surf camp by boat.  The bummer was that we brought everything for fear of theft.  So, we hauled our very heavy board bag and luggage about 3 blocks from the dock to the camp.

One thing became very apparent:  the coastal humidity factor.  We were dripping sweat by the time we arrived.  The camp has a really cool surf vibe, the water feels like 80 degrees, but the beach break surf was absolutely pounding.  So, for now we opted for playing in the shore pound and getting our surf trunks filled with sand from body surfing.  Were hoping tomorrow might be a bit cleaner.  Were also talking about heading south to El Salvador for some point breaks if conditions don't improve.

For now, we are getting some serious relaxation time.  Will keep y'all posted.
