Friday, July 6th: Xela, Guatemala

7/6/12:  Last night, we arrived in Xela from Panajachel.  We checked into a historic hotel right near the center of town called the Hotel Kiktem-Ja.

We celebrated Leslie's 38th birthday at an internet cafe called El Quartito with Leslie's high school friend, Cara.  We danced, well I danced, to some great Guatemalan reggae music.  The crowd and the band sang "Happy Birthday" to Leslie much to her chagrin. They even served IPA, a rarity in these parts! The food was very good, especially the crepes with fresh fruit.
